At Beauty Boost, your safety is our priority. All clinical procedures carry potential risks and require a recovery period. Below is a guide to the most common experiences and necessary lifestyle adjustments for our key treatments.
Clinical Governance & Patient Agreement
Mandatory Consultations: At Beauty Boost, we adhere to a medical model of care. All appointments include a comprehensive clinical consultation prior to any procedure. No treatment will be performed until a health assessment is completed and suitability is confirmed.
Clinical Autonomy: Our Registered Nurses are regulated health professionals who hold a primary duty of care to their patients. We reserve the right to refuse or defer treatment if a procedure is not deemed clinically appropriate, safe, or in the patient's best interest.
Informed Consent: All patients are required to provide formal informed consent before proceeding with any clinical treatment. This process ensures you have a clear understanding of the procedure, its risks, and the expected recovery period.
Informed Financial Consent: Transparency is central to our practice. All patients will be provided with a formal, written quote following their consultation and prior to the commencement of any treatment. There are no hidden fees.
Individual Variability: Results are not guaranteed. Success depends on age, skin health, genetics, and strict adherence to aftercare.
Consultation: No treatment is performed without a prior medical assessment to ensure you are a suitable candidate.
Strictly 18+: Beauty Boost does not provide cosmetic medical consultations or treatments to individuals under the age of 18. Valid photo ID may be requested at your appointment.
All procedures involve a degree of risk. While rare, these can include:
Temporary bruising or prolonged swelling.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (skin darkening).
Infection or cold sore reactivation (if prone).
Allergic reaction to topical products.
A full, personalised risk disclosure is provided during your mandatory consultation before any treatment commences.
At Beauty Boost we strictly abide by the infection control standards of HLTINF005 and hold a licensed Higher Risk Personal Appearance Service (PAS License: [A006862552]).
Risks and Complications of Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures
The following is a general guide to possible risks and complications associated with higher-risk non-surgical cosmetic procedures:
Swelling and Bruising
Swelling and bruising are common side effects for many non-surgical cosmetic procedures. These symptoms are usually temporary and resolve within a few days, though in some cases they may persist longer.
Redness and Irritation
You may experience localised redness, tenderness, or irritation at the treatment site. This typically subsides within a few hours to days after the procedure.
Pain or Discomfort
Mild to moderate discomfort at the injection or treatment site is common. Your practitioner will discuss appropriate pain relief and aftercare.
Infection
There is a small risk of infection any time the skin barrier is compromised. Strict hygiene protocols are followed to minimise this risk, and you will receive instructions on how to care for the area post-procedure. Please report any signs of infection such as increasing redness, heat, swelling, pain, or discharge.
Allergic Reactions
Although rare, some individuals may experience an allergic or hypersensitivity reaction to ingredients used in non-surgical procedures. Ensure you inform your practitioner of any known allergies or medical history.
Asymmetry or Irregular Results
Results may vary between individuals. There is a possibility of asymmetry, over-correction, under-correction or lumpiness, particularly with injectable treatments. In some cases, further treatment may be required.
Results shown in any materials or discussed during consultation are based on individual cases. Outcomes may vary depending on personal anatomy, product used, and treatment goals.
Vascular Complications (Injectables)
Injectable treatments can, in rare cases, lead to vascular occlusion, where a blood vessel becomes blocked. This is a serious complication and may require immediate treatment. Symptoms may include severe pain, changes in skin colour, or skin breakdown. Always seek immediate medical advice if concerned.
Skin Damage or Scarring
Non-surgical procedures can sometimes cause changes in skin texture or scarring. This is rare and often linked to post-treatment infection or improper aftercare.
Pigment Changes (e.g. after chemical peels)
Changes in skin pigmentation may occur, particularly in individuals with darker skin tones. This can include both hyperpigmentation (darkening) and hypopigmentation (lightening) of the skin. These changes are usually temporary but can be permanent in rare cases.
Delayed Onset Nodules (Injectables)
With certain injectable products, delayed inflammatory nodules may form weeks or months post-treatment. These may require further management, including medication or specialist review.
Psychological Impact
It is important to have realistic expectations of the outcomes. Cosmetic procedures should not be used as a solution for low self-esteem or psychological conditions. Please discuss any concerns with your practitioner.
Important Considerations
Individual Results May Vary – The results of non-surgical cosmetic procedures depend on individual anatomy, treatment goals, and response to the procedure.
Informed Consent is Essential – Your practitioner will explain the procedure, risks, potential complications, and expected outcomes prior to any treatment.
Aftercare Instructions Must Be Followed – Following the advice provided by your practitioner helps reduce the risk of complications and supports proper healing.
Reporting Adverse Effects
If you experience any unexpected reactions or complications, please contact the clinic immediately on 0412 412 210. If urgent, seek medical attention.

Clinical Skin Treatments
SkinPen® Precision Microneedling
What to Expect: Mild discomfort during treatment. Immediately after, skin will appear red (like a moderate sunburn) and may feel warm or tight.
Recovery: Redness typically subsides within 24–48 hours. Some patients experience minor swelling, breakouts (purging), or a textured "sandpaper" feel for 3–5 days.
Mandatory Lifestyle Changes:
Activity: Avoid sweating, strenuous exercise, swimming, saunas, or hot showers for 24–48 hours.
Sun: Avoid direct sun exposure and wear SPF 50+ daily.
Skincare: Do not apply makeup and abide by strict infection control instructions for 24 hours. Avoid "active" ingredients (Retinol, BHA/AHAs) for 5 days.
Clinical Chemical Peels
What to Expect: A tingling or heat sensation during application. Skin may feel tight or appear darker as the exfoliation process begins.
Recovery: Depending on the peel depth, visible peeling typically starts on day 3 and can last up to 7 days. Do not pick or pull peeling skin, as this can cause scarring or pigmentation.
Mandatory Lifestyle Changes:
Activity: Avoid heat-inducing activities (hot yoga, heavy cardio) for 24 hours.
Protection: Strict sun avoidance is required; your skin will be highly photosensitive during the healing phase.
PRX PLUS (Biorevitalisation)
What to Expect: Minimal to no downtime. You may feel a slight tingling during the massage application, with mild redness immediately after.
Recovery: Most patients return to normal activities immediately. Rare, localized flaking may occur 2–3 days later.
Mandatory Lifestyle Changes:
Aftercare: You must use the specific home-care nourishing cream provided to maintain the skin’s pH and hydration for optimal results.
